What if It’s Us by Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera

What if It’s Us by Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera tells the story of two teenage boys inside the bustling ways of life in New York City who happen to meet each other at a post office. But, a flash mob separates them and just like that, they were gone from each other's peripheral vision. The novel then goes onto showing readers the two opposing perspectives of the boys. Arthur, who is currently an intern at his mother’s law firm who wants nothing more than to figure out what he actually wants to do and Ben, whos recovering from a recent breakup and wants to feel something real. Both boys go on with their day, not being able to stop thinking about the other. It can be concluded that it was up to fate who happened to bring them together, and it was fate that separated them. But, that didn’t stop them from trying to find each other. The novel then goes on to show them trying to find each other, in a place where buildings and people were constantly on top of each other. What I love about this book is how it shows that if you’re meant to meet someone, they will come into your life at just the right time, even if you didn’t know it. It also does show that coincidences along with allied fate can coexist in the midst of this fast-paced world. I recommend this book to ay reader that is in need of a comedic and romantic relief. The themes of this book are fate, sheer coincidences, the mishaps and triumphs of growing up, and what it means to be human.
