Out of My Mind by Sharon M. Draper is an interesting novel. When Melody found out that she really is no different from the other kids despite her disability really hooked me onto the book. Melody was born with a disability which caused her to not be able to talk or write. This made people really feel for her and her struggles. The novel is suspenseful compared to other books. This book is a one of a kind and I really enjoyed reading it. The author also put a part of the story when Melody thought she had a friend but she ended up being fake. This is a real thing which actually happens to people so I felt sorry for Melody. I think Melody’s personalities really match real life ones and I enjoy books like that. Out of My Mind taught me to not judge people by their disabilities, because they can actually be really smart. Melody’s teacher thought that she was incapable of doing some things. People deserve some chances no matter what, it is unfair to assume things. I recommend reading this book, it hooks you on and you keep wanting to figure out what happens. I rate this book a five out of five stars.
