Strings Attached by Judy Blundell

The protagonist, Kit, starts off by moving to New York City from Providence, Rhode Island.  She gets her own apartment and job at a well known nightclub thanks to Ned, the father of the love of her life.  She soon realizes everything has its cost.  When Ned starts asking about one of the regulars at the club who later winds up shot and killed, she becomes suspicious.

This book is packed with drama, romance and action as it takes place during the 1930s – 1940s.  My favorite character was Kit.  She is a strong woman that pursues her dreams.  My favorite part was when Billy, the love of her life, comes and visits her in the city for two weeks before going off to fight in the Korean War.

Even though the book starts off fairly boring, I really loved how it turned out.  I would rate it a 5 out of 5 stars.  I recommend it to the action and romance readers, and ones who aren’t afraid to cry.  It has an unexpected twist at the end that will leave you in tears.
