The Blood Lie by Shirley Reva Vernick

In the book The Blood Lie by Shirley Reva Vernick, a 16 year old Jewish boy named Jack Pool is accused of kidnapping and murdering a 4 year old christian girl.  When returning home from walking with Jack and his little sister she never made it inside her house.  The twist is that the missing girl is the little sister of Emaline, who is Jack’s crush.  With hate between the Jews and Christians, homes and businesses are searched without permission and property is destroyed.  It is up to Jack to clear his name and prove that he had nothing to do with the crime.  My favorite character is Jack because he handled the accusations with maturity and my favorite part was when Jack protected his rabbi from being attacked by the townsmen.  I would give the book 3 stars out of 5 because the ending didn’t seem to satisfy the problems that occurred in the book.  This book is recommended for people who like mystery and suspense.
