What is RFID?

RFID is an acronym for radio-frequency identification. It is a combination of radio -frequency-based technology and microchip technology used in just about every field. Examples include highway toll passes, credit cards, and Disney swipe passes to name a few.
For library purposes, all of our materials have been “tagged”. The tag contains electronically stored information used to identify each object. This allows you to place a stack of items on the “reader” and check them out quickly and easily. View our video above of a fourth grader using the checkout, to see how easy it is.
All you need is a library card and password!
